It was a soggy beginning for the group so only a few showed up. With recent emphasis on the health aspects of walking, the club is trying to encourage people to walk just for the health of it. A person's walking speed is not as important as taking the first step. Because the weather was so wet and windy, the group walked only a short distance, and then went to a local restaurant for a healthy lunch. One couple brought their dog Katrina, a hurricane dog adopted shortly after the hurrican of the same name in Louisiana. The group will continue to meet every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Hemlock and Kessler by the restrooms. There will be someone there with a Snails Walk sign so anyone can find the group. For more information, contact Sam Korff at korffs@wildblue.net or phone at 503-728-0400. Everyone is welcome to participate at their own speed and level of fitness.
